Normal Phone Ringtone

Is there any way at all to get a ringtone on my iPhone that just sounds like a regular, classic cellphone? Marimba doesn't sound like a normal ringtone at all. Before the iTunes update, I had the CTU24 ringtone, which sounds a lot more like a phone than Marimba does. I'd even be willing to buy a normal sounding ringtone, even though I'd be flipping angry about having to do so. Any solutions?

I'm with you CeleronXL, I'll pay for it too! I just want one that sounds like the ones you hear in some of the Apple ads, Where's that ringtone??. Perhaps Apple could have left off the "Barking" ringer, or the "Motorcycle" one. Seems like TV that use the iPhone as a prop even use a "normal" ringtone when they ring. I don't care for the "Old phone" ringtone either. Just give us a generic, "normal" sounding ringer for God's sake!!

Ok, I'm done complaining.

If anyone knows where to buy a normal ringtone on iTunes, please let us know. I don't need someone singing, or rapping when I get a call.

I had CTU as well, and I still miss it a little (I have it on my home IP phones, so I still get to hear it). The only currently legit way would be to find a song on iTunes that has a ring in it, buy it, make a ringtone out of it by isolating at least 3 seconds, with repeat on ($1.98 + tax).

(Post a reply if you know a song with a good ringing sound, especially a CTU/Avaya/Cisco ringtone. I know +Sometimes a Fantasy+, Billy Joel, _Glass Houses_ has a ringback tone at the beginning.)

Add me to the list of wanting a normal sounding cell phone ringer. One just like the Apple TV commercials would suit me perfectly! I've already submitted feedback, and I would suggest everyone to do the same. The more feedback Apple hears about this, maybe they will give (or sell) us some ringtones... not ringsongs.

LadyAdun - Yes, I know about that ringtone, as I stated in my post just before you: Quote - "I don't care for the "Old phone" ringtone either."

I would just like to see Apple come out with some "Standard" tones for people to use in a business setting, even just one since I usually pick one and leave it. Dogs barking, Robots, and motorcycle sounds aren't very professional.

Yes, I know I should have looked into this before I bought it, I guess I assumed since it was the "State of the art" phone, it would allow me to move a sound file onto the phone and use it as a ringtone.

Thank you,

Jay

An old fashioned rotary phone is not a normal cellphone ringtone.

LOL! I don't think there has been such a thing as a "normal" ringtone for cell phones for a long time. Mostly, I think this is because people got tired of everybody having to check their phone when one went off in someone's pocket (& because selling ringtones are big business).

So even for those wanting "classic" ringtones, a single normal one (whatever your idea of that is) isn't very practical. This seems like a great opportunity for some enterprising person: compile a "song" that consists only of classic ringtones (a ringtones greatest hits, as it were) & sell that through the iTunes Store. Thus, for 99¢ plus 99¢ more per ringtone clip, iPhone users can get what they want.

I think it could become a chart-topper! 🙂

I would be willing to pay for each, or even a pack of rings.

I think that if enough people feel this way, they will probably be made available through the iTunes Store, if not by Apple then by some enterprising sound designer.

I am an adult after all.

I am (in calendar years anyway) an adult too, but I must admit that I wouldn't mind having some of the more lighthearted ringtones I've heard on other phones to associate with certain callers. Most of these are not clips from songs either. They include famous (or infamous) lines from TV shows or movies, sound effects, & other things like that. I suspect that there is a good-sized market for all this stuff among iPhone users, so maybe Apple will add a separate ringtone section to the store if enough people ask for it.

I just found two different sound effects albums on iTunes... both qualify as ringtone ready. I know these are not regular rings, and I still want just that, but in the mean time I thought this was kinda cool. One is *Audio Environments & Co*... a good pick is "space Music" and the other is by *Best cartoon & Movie Sound F-X* ... I got "space Comuter" off that one. I made a ringtone out of each of them and they both came out pretty good. Still not a regular ringtone, but better than crickets, motorcycles and old car horn.
