IPOD Classic and Bose Sound Dock

I just recently upgraded from a 4th gen ipod to a new 80 gb classic. the old ipod worked great with my bose sound dock, but my new one switches to the battery screen about every 2 minutes...with is very irritating. I spoke with customer support, and he simply suggested I reset my ipod, but had never heard of this issue, which is odd, because it seems to be quite common from what I am reading. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am also experiencing this problem with the Logitech AudioStation express, but I tried a co-workers 30Gb IPOD and it worked just fine. I thought it might have been the speakers until his IPOD worked just fine. sigh

I do have the same problem: ipodClassic <-> Bose SoundDock.
Sometimes there's no music after setting the iPod on the Bose Dock. Sometimes it's okay.
With my elder iPod photo there were no problems.

Am also a dance teacher & bought new Classic + Bose dock last month. All went fine til 1.02 update. You can find other postings on discussions forum about music 'sleeping' in the middle of tracks. Inconvenient for most people, impossible to work with when teaching!
I even had my new Classic changed for a new one, plus the Dock changed for new, before realizing problem is 1.02 update. Solution (which works perfectly) is NOT to use your remote with the dock. Just use the controls on the actual ipod. So you have to return to your dock when teaching but hopefully Apple will sort this problem in their next update - SOON!.

It's a stupid issue, what exactly is the point of the iPod just randomly sleeping when it's clearly playing music! The only solution I have is to unplug it from the charger, so its just playing and not charging.

My wife bought me a classic 160G for my birthday. I have used it for about two weeks (earbuds and the JBL II Soundstage) and it performed flawlessly. About two nights ago, I was prompted to "upgrade" to the 1.0.2 software which I did. Since then, everything still works fine except for when I dock the iPod onto the speaker system (I also tried my wife's Altec InMotion with the same result). As the docking station is simultaneously playing music and charging, it interrupts the music and the "fully charged" icon appears on the screen. I have to manually restart the music again. Once the battery reaches full charge, it drains and recharges fully about once/twice per song while on the docking station. VERY annoying. I restored my iPod back to factory settings but now it continues to present this flaw. The "helpdesk" person at Apple wants me to send them my device to troubleshoot. Anyone have any ideas before I ship it back to them? Thanks

I have the very same issue when the ipod is hooked up to my DICE car kit. iPod goes to sleep after a minute or so. Also, when I turn the car off, I can't turn iPod on again, unless I reset the iPod. All of this started AFTER the .02 update.

I am experiencing the same problem with the Bose SoundDock and the iPod 160GB classic. I bought this setup for my wife, who enjoys listening to audiobooks. We randomly have the described situation where the iPod, while docked in the SoundDock stops playing and displays the "battery charged" screen. It can happen once an hour, or it can happen every couple of minutes. Very unpredictable, and very frustrating for my wife as she has limited vision and the audiobooks are one of her primary enjoyments. C'mon Apple or Bose - some help here!

experiencing the same problem with a ipod classic 160gb and the creative travelsound i. Haven't realized that the remot's causing the problem, i'm going to give it a try. Anyway - quite frustrating to give up this feature until a new firmware fixes it eventually.

Bingo! Exact same problem:

iPod Classic 160 GB will not play tracks in a Bose or Altec Lansing dock player without stopping! Track stoppage does not happen with headphones or in Apple dock, which is no doubt why Apple doesn't yet acknowledge this problem exists. Problem not present with iPod 5G Video...

Bonus: Apple has no idea what this is about - yet you can see from the posts this is a real problem!

I'm having exactly the same problem with my 80GB Classic. I'm happy with it otherwise, but this is ridiculous.

The whole point was to have access to my entire music collection in one place. So I got rid of my component stereo system and replaced it with the Classic and the Bose docking station. Now I can listen to my entire music collection--but only 120 seconds at a time.

Apple, please help!

Is this a random problem or is this a problem with all the classics and the Bose dockstation? My 60gb photo is full and I have CD's piling up. I was going to buy a 160gb classic but decided to read into it before doing so. If it will stop on the Bose system every 120 seconds there is no way I am buying a new one. If this indeed is the case thanks for saving me $350 and a lot of anger and stress.

Hi, i am also experiencing the same problem however i have the bose portable sound dock and find if you disconnect from mains so that ipod is not charging it solves the problem!
Obviously there needs to be a apple fix to sort out this problem so hurry up Apple!

How do you "disconnect from the mains" on the docking station? Do you mean unplugging the sound dock from the wall?

The problem does seem to have something to do with charging--like other people here, right when the sound dies it flips to the "Battery Charging" screen.
