DVDs burn fine; attempting to burn a CD produces error code 8002006E

. . . and at least twice, a locked burn folder on the desktop, that couldn't be unlocked through Get Info.

It gets as far as "Writing Track 1, 0% complete," then gives the error code, and the windows associated with the burn are stuck on the screen.

They physical media appears to end up with a narrow ring of burned area near the hub.

Anybody know what an 8002006E could be?

For what it's worth, I have the same issue on my MBP 15" running 10.5.1. I can burn DVDs just fine, but every CD, old, new, whatever fives that error code (8002006E).

I even tried booting off a clean install of 10.5 on an external drive, and got the same code. I'm starting to think my hardware might be bad... And that's not good.

I'm going to the Genius Bar this afternoon and hope to get an answer that doesn't involve sending my MBP back to the factory! Anyone got any idea of a less drastic solution?
