Contunous Scrolling using Mad Catz Gamepad for Mac

Apple recommends the use of Mad Catz Gamepad for use with EA Sports games on your iMac
( http://www.apple.com/games/gettingstarted/peripherals/index2.html).

So I buy Madden 08, and the gamepad...
Game appears to operate fine on the system, but the gamepad causes the game menu to continously scroll through the menu options in gameplay, rendering the game useless.

I downloaded (and paid for) USB Overdrive to control the gamepad, but have had no luck with it.

EA Sports support suggested I unlpug the mouse (didn't work), then they suggested going into the Applications mgr. and shutting down every possible program that I could (had no effect). They then gave up and told me to by a Logitech controller.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this without spending more money?

I wrote a review of the Mad Catz pad on the Apple Store site, and saw that several people are having the same problem.

Based on the reviews I read at the link you supplied it looks like your best bet is to send the controller back for a refund and to go buy something else. I don't think any of the things they suggested are going to help, and they don't even make sense in fact. Those suggestions might work if you were running Windows.

Send it back, get your money and try the Logitech device. At least they have real Mac support if you have a problem.

I bought the Mad Catz controller with Madden NFL 2008 and experienced the very same problem. When it came to the coin toss the cursor kept cycling between the choices and I had no ability to control or even stop it.

When I attempt to set my controller up to use a trigger button the game exits and returns me to the desktop immediately. There is no error message it was just like I pressed QUIT GAME or BOSS key.

I think the cycling through the menus is related to incompatiability of the controller's turbo function. This has been my mistake.

I was misled by the recommendation by Apple Inc to buy this controller for EA games.
