I get a error -2048 sometimes when I try to open a movie recorded from my webcam Axis 207W (Wifi Camera) and uploaded on a ftp server directly by the camera. Not all the time, maybe one every 3 files. Quicktime version 7.0.4 and MacOS 10.4.10
Any idea ?
MiniMac, Intel, PowerBook G4,
Mac OS X (10.4.10),
20 other macs in my company
-2048 error means no movie found. If the file wasn't closed correctly you would get this error.
Nothing QuickTime can do to fix it and you may want to check with the manufacturer:

Don't think so. I think the camera probably just records for a predetermined period of time or is continuously recording and then uploading "chunks" of data to the server.
If these chunks were extracted and then not re-saved as a new file they may have been corrupted.
Probably QuickTime is not seeing the "end" of the file from these chunks. Think like you did a cut in QuickTime Pro. If you didn't paste that into a new file and just sent it to a new location it could get corrupted.
That camera uses a wireless network and if it isn't fast enough data could also be lost making the file incomplete. Those same files could possibly be opened in other players that are less strict than QuickTime. VLC and Real Player are two I would try.
-2048 is a QuickTime error dialog. A user would also get this error if they were attempting to open a MPEG-2 file without the needed component installed.
Yes, that makes sense ! as the wifi camera has to upload on an ftp server, it could be two different interruptions: from the wifi network and during the ftp upload. You're probably right. As the usefull films are maximum 7 seconds long, I guess the longer films have been interupted and therefore seen as corrupted. I'll try to find another way to record these films, directly on an internal server.
Thanks for your advice !
