Capturing video from Sony DCR-TRV33E

Hi,

I have got a Sony DCR-TRV33E video camera and the iLink cable. I understood that I need only to connect the iLink cable to the camera and computer and switch the camera to the VCR mode. The computer should detect the camera. However, when I did this and started iMovie HD I would not see the camera (iMovie HD would still offer the build-in iSight only).

Am I missing something? Do I need some driver?

Any help will be highly appreciated!

No drivers should be needed.

As I recall, your 33E is a PAL camcorder.

If that is correct, your iMovie > Help article on "Choosing to import NTSC or PAL format video" may be what you need. If you cannot find it in iMovie Help on your Mac, you can use this help page on the web.
