Do I REALLY Need a Case/Cover for My New iPod Nano?

Hi there,
I have recently bought the iPod 8GB Silver Nano (havent used it yet, been organizing my music collection)... Basically before this i had the old iPod Shuffle (the 1GB white one).

My question is does the iPod Nano 3rd Gen really need a case/cover/screen protector? I see the covers around everywhere, but their mostly for the old nano, and the one's i want (like the Griffin iClear case) is not available yet. I'm just wondering if a case is an absolute must have (because its scratches easily)?

Also, a lot of the cases out there are BULKY and take away from the great design of the Nano. What are your opinion's/recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

My opinion is this:

I absolutely hate the aluminum backing, I do understand why they didn't use the design from the 2g nanos. I hate the back aluminum part getting scratched and finger printed. I do not own a nano but I have a touch, and I got a case as soon as I could. I highly recommend a case if you care about scratches and the condition of your nano. The back gets scratched easily and hurts resale value.

It all depends on how tolerant you are of scratching. Like past Nanos, the shiny back as well as the screen will eventually show marks. WIth my previous Nano I didn't bother doing anything, just stuck it unprotected in my jeans pocket and went about my day. At first I had no problems but it eventually showed the wear. After a couple of years of this I found that my screen was very scratched.

So with my new Nano I immediately got a case, the Switcheasy Black Biscuit (www.switcheasy.com). It's a great, great case at a cheap price and the look is fantastic. No scratches for me now.

You don't need a case until your Nano contacts something that would have broken it. Seeing as the small size predisposes the nano to being in pockets, pouches, etc with other things, I'd say a case of some sort is a must. I'd suggest a "Biscuit" from www.switcheasy.com. The black version is painfully cool, but they also have other colors (wish they'd release a clear one). With all the goodies they send with the case, it's a great deal at $23 shipped.

Hi,
Go to amazon.com and search for "Griffin Technology". I ordered the clear case for my 3rd generation ( http://www.amazon.com/iClear-3G-Nano-Crystal-clear-hard-shell/dp/B000VXT19W/ref= sr11/103-9492739-2304625?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193230226&sr=8-1). It won't arrive to December.

In the meantime I ordered another carry case ( http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-California-Universal-Carrying/dp/B000IM SJ8K/ref=sr125/103-9492739-2304625?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193230313&sr=1-25).

Amazon has a lot of things for the 3G, my Apple store didn't have much of anything.
