Disabling Camera in iPhone

I am looking at purchasing an iPhone. As I work in the defense industry I can not carry a phone to work that has camera. Is there a way to disable the camera so that when I am work I can show them the camera does not work. Preferably, I would like to enable it when I am at home. Has anybody dealt with this type of situation?

Thanks,

Windows XP Pro

I have a similar concern, working at a defense company where cameras are not allowed. As cool as the iPhone is, I would want to show it off to my peers, and it is not worth getting fired for if Security discovers me with it!

I think that getting a "fixed" iPhone without the camera would be good, but doing it yourself or through a third party seems risky to the device and a sure way to void the warranty.

I would like to learn more about whether this could be done at an Apple Store service center, or about how an iPhone can be ordered from Apple without the camera, or with the camera disabled.

I have read in other posts about people who have had the camera disabled unintentionally. If only we could do this in a way that could be easily demonstrated to a security guard. Perhaps a custom application could be developed that could be downloaded and disable/enable the camera on demand, maybe with a password for it.
