it seems my touch screen is losing sensitivity. At times, it seems it just doesn't respond to my index finger, no matter how hard i try. Then I use my middle finger, and it works! After the screen reacted it seems regained sensitivity to my index again. Should I take it to an applestore for a checkup? (i'm typing on the touch btw, and it just didn't react to my finger again... Took a few seconds for it to work again... I'm concerned...
No I don't have a screen protector, its not looking too good. When I play music, and I want to skip ahead by using my finger to guide it forward, it doesn't react, until you do it long enough... Leave it still for about 5 seconds, it doesn't read my commands again.
I don't know if the technologies are similar or not, but the symptoms you describe are EXACTLY like what happened with the trackpad on my MBP earlier this year.
It turned out to be a faulty capacitor under the trackpad, and Apple replaced it.
have you tried a hard reset? (hold sleep/wake and home button until apple shows)
i did one when my "slide to unlock" slider became unresponsive to my touch and that fixed it.
I have a very similar problem. The 2nd row of buttons and the dock work fine, but the top row are very iffy. I usually have to press 5 or 6 times to get some of them to work, and I'm hesitant to get this one exchanged since it took me 2 tries to get one that works. I plan on going to the Apple store after I try a restore.
I am getting a bit of an unresponsive screen at times too. I thought it might be that the touch is meant to not respond to accidental touches, and perhaps I wasn't being deliberate enough. If anyone does actually go to Apple with this issue, please share.
Every now and then my screen becomes unresponsive. I turn the power off then back on and that seems to clear it up. Hopefully it can be fixed in a software/firmware update.
It didn't happen for the first week of having the touch, it started after a while. I AM mad that they're sending it back saying "no trouble found". It is definitely insensitive, as with many other responses from the local forumers. Do they have any apple moderators here?
Also, I live in Vancouver, there arn't any apple stores even near. There are however authorized apple resellers, would it be wise to let them look at it?
I have axactly the same problems as you all describe. I have to try really hard to make the iPod Touch sense my index finger. After 5 or more tries it suddenly works for a few moments and then it goes back to unresponsive behaviour :/
It is really a cool mp3player but what good is it if I can't control it?
Yes, others are experiencing this problem. I returned mine for a full refund. Maybe 2nd gen iPod Touch will solve these problems, and add much needed flash support.
I've been having the opposite problem, my 8gb Ipod touch that I bought in early October has been occaisionally having a hyper sensitive screen- sometimes I don't even need to touch it, just have my finger over the screen and it starts doing its own thing jumpinng through the playlists and selecting songs or if I'm browsing the web it jumps aroound the page with out me scrolling. Anyone else having a similar problem?
