Nokia 6500 classic and slide plugin

Hi All. I have been writting FREE plugins for a whole range of Nokia mobiles for some time now. I wish to add support for the new Nokia 6500 classic and slide.

In order to do this I need some one that has the phone to be willing to test it. Also I need then to remove the battery and send me the name as it appears on the white label under the battery.

This will be a great help to all.

Visit my site www.s60themes.co.uk to contact me direct.

Regards Paul.

hey James,

I used your plug-in for a 6500 classic and it worked beautifully but I have an issue. When i synced, all the contacts that were copied to my phone disappeared from my address book (the others stayed - ie the ones without phone numbers). when I tried to re-sync them back from the phone I lost everything (250 contacts). Is this an iSync issue, a phone issue, a plug in issue, an OS issue, a mac issue....?

Any ideas gratefully received.

Thank you.

Ok, bought the phone and it just works perfectly with my macbook.
I modified an iSync plugin for the nokia 6500 classic by doing the following:

1. Search for the "MetaClasses.plist" file in the package contents of the application iSync (iSync > Contents > PlugIns > ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice > Contents > PlugIns > PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin > Contents > Resources > MetaClasses.plist) and replace the keyword 6270 by 6500 in TextEdit.
2. Replace the image file NOK6270.tiff by the image file NOK6500.tiff (this picture should be .tiff and lowercase extension and 60x60px).
3. Add the device in iSync, first make iSync recognise it is a mobile by automatically going through the setup steps and finally add the device and done!

(oh and for your info: i used 230 contacts and 5 filled calendars)

Hopefully this will help anyone who bought this neat phone 🙂

Hi James,

I want to try your plug-in for my Nokia 6500 classic. The instructions you give above the plug-ins list (in the green box) speaks about navigating to the "…Nokia-6131.phoneplugin…". Sorry, but I'm not sure if those instructions refer to the Nokia Series 40 or to any other Nokia model (such as the 6500 classic).

And if it refers to the 6500 classic, should I change references to the 6131 to 6500?

Hi Petter,

My wife has just bought a Nokia 6500 classic and I'm interested in trying out James' plug-in but can you tell me: what exactly can I sync with it? Is it only the address book and calendar, or can I also upload and download such things as pictures, MMS, ringtones, music, etc.?

And from where do I sync the address book and calendar? Is it from my Mac's Address Book and iCal?

I'm running OS X 10.4.11 and using iSync 2.4

Regards,
Vaughan
