G3/G4 Cpu upgrade for PowerMac G3 B/W

Question

G3/G4 Cpu upgrade for PowerMac G3 B/W

Which 3rd party CPU upgrades work well with no problems in OSX? I do not need the Altivec(sp?) features in the G4. Looking for good general performance.

Note: In B&Ws, 700MHz and faster G4s slow the system bus down to 66MHz, from the original 100MHz speed.

G3 upgrades of all speeds use the full 100MHz bus speed.

Thanks for the info.

It seems for the money the G3/1000 is the best. The G4/700 is an alternative.
