No USB cable provded with Epson printer

I write this as warning. I have just bought an Epson Stylus D120. In the box is the printer, a set of cartridges and a power cable. The instructions mention the right time to connect a USB cable to the computer. But NO cable is supplied! I found this quite amazing, that someone will buy this item, take it back to office or home, and then find it cannot be used without a cable that not everyone has just lying around. There is no mention on the box.
Are all Epson printers packaged like this?

iMac Intel 20", Mac OS X (10.4.10), 1.GB RAM

Thanks big...s.
My previous printer, a Canon, came fully equipped. I checked all over the Epson box..no mention and I cannot imagine Apple packaging a machine without such an essential item. In spite of your explanation (and you are right about the cartridges), I think it, is a disgrace, not for the cost of a cable, but for the huge inconvenience this must cause!

None of the major players (except for Lexmark) in the market supplies their consumer products with a USB cable. It's not surprising that your unit came without one. AFAIK Epson products tell you on the packaging, that no USB cable is inside the box.
The reason for this is that consumer products have dramatically dropped in price. The manufacturers are trying to save costs wherever they can. Most of them even don't put full ink cartridges in the box but only so called starter pens, filled with 10 - 50% ink compared to a full retail cartridge.

Thanks for your comment Tom, but I don't buy any of your reasoning.
1) If competition is so hot, then you provide BETTER customer satisfaction, not worse! Epson can buy cables in their thousands, addding little to the cost of the machine.
2) Standard USB cables are around 3 metres long, that's plenty...at least to get a buyer up and running, making sure the thing works!
3) And if you are not replacing a printer, and have no cable, and you've just driven 50 miles home from the shop?

I'm surprised at the casual acceptance of this (for me) abysmal packaging, especially on a board of the best in the world!

Over the years using several an printers an scanners etc ... etc ... I could start a shop with selling USB cables.

I both sheep ones an very expenses ones, but never came with a USB cable. I could sent you a couple if you didn't lived that far a way.

I still looking for the issue in your non technical question??
When you buy sheep than you got sheep ...

Hi again,

Are all Epson printers packaged like this?

Yes they are. I both over the years several Epson printers, an never ever was a USB cable in the box.

When I said buying sheep i ment to say is it's all in the game as like the vendors as Canon, Epson, Samsung etc ... offer their products on the marked because the competition is hard.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction where Milan is situated, but I think everybody here in Europe knows where it is. Me myself lived for more than one year in Verona.
