Pictures are tinted red when playing on TV

Has anyone experienced and/or solved this issue? When playing pictures from the library (not streaming) they are all tinted with a reddish hue. This happened after a few hours of normal operation. I restarted the machine and it did nothing to help the problem. i checked all the cables, the component cables are set correctly.i checked the TV colour menu, and everything is set correctly. i set the machine back to factory standards and after syncing the library again, i still get that red tint.

i bought this as a gift to a family member, but it's been more of a hassle than a gift...

anyone has any ideas?

Sounds odd.

Do movie/video trailers look red too? If so I'd suspect a loose connection in the leads or a failure of the TV component input or AppleTV component output - can you try a DVD player or something with component output to see if it narrows it down to AppleTV?

I assume the photos look ok on the synced computer - it is possible that the synced computer has a badly uncalibrated monitor and that the user has made the photos look good on the monitor which then causes them too look bad on a decent display. long shot that though. Is the famly member syncing from PC or Mac?

Any chance the images are in some peculiar colour space which AppleTV isn't handling?

Can you burn some images to a CD/DVD and display them via a DVD player - if so and they look odd it's likely to be the images.

Any example images you can post?
