    I can confirm that this doens't work.

    Same stupid blue screen. I did a single user logon, tried a diskcheck - nothing seems to help from this point on.

    When I tried to install the system, I observed 2 Problems:
    1. During installation the Disk will be scanned for possible problems. Especially those, that might arise due to the new feature in HFS+ called hardlinks.
    The Leopard Disk utility after a long time came up with a Message that reparing my (prevously 10.4 OK checked disk) was impossible to repair.
    Solution was to reboot in 10.4 and run Diskwarrior. After the Rebuild with Diskwarrior, the 2nd nstallation try continued after the Disk-check

    2. Even if installation was sucessful, the System only displayed a bluescreen after restart.
    I tracked that down to the following error message in the systemlog:
    host1 com.apple.WindowServer[132]: No signal exception handler installed: Segmentation fault
    host1 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer[132]): Exited with exit code: 1

    Without the window-server running, the System will not be able to do anything.
    Archive and install solved the problem.
    I suspect that FruitMenu/ape is related - it does not work on 10.5 anyway.

    If anyone likes to try out, uninstall Fuitmenu/ape or any similar Applications an then make the upgrade to 10.5

    That's not normal... I installed 10.5 on my PowerBook G4 in less than an hour but I am having problems with my Power Mac G5.

    I'm in the same boat. I did an upgrade on MacPro, and now it is stuck at the blue login screen. I can move my mouse around, but nothing else. Just got off the line with AppleCare, who mentioned that this may be an "emerging" issue, and that the best thing to do would be just wait for about an hour. Guess I'll just keep waiting...

    I as well am stuck on the blue screen of death. My MBP Duo Core doesn't even give me a cursor. I do hear activity though. I also do not have options to really do anything. How can I change the boot settings or anything?

    Reboot and hold the C button on your keyboard.

    It will then boot from cd/dvd. If you have the Leopard DVD in the drive you can start over with an archive & install instead of upgrade.

    add me to the list of blue screen of death, should have looked at the discussion board before I tried the upgrade.
    Will stop by the apple store on the way home, I am sure there will other blue screeners there. Glad I did not try to install it on my other mac.
    They did not do their homework on this upgrade.
    will keep the faith in apple for a few hours to days.

    I am also having a problem with the blue screen. I have waited a few hours with no luck. There isn't any options on the screen. Everyone has talked about archiving and reinstalling. I am not to sure how to do this. What should I do?

    I seem to be in the same situation as most that have installed leopard. I also verified permisions, repaired them, repaired disk, did all the stuff on apple's site refering to the blue screen in single user mode to no avail. Also did the fsck. I am now re-installing the upgrade to see if I get anywhere.

    Ok, So I called. They made me verify my HDD, then repair it. I then Archive and Installed. Let's hope it works..

    Folks, for what it's worth -- I, too, got hung on the blue screen during installation on my iMac G5. I checked out these discussions and decided to persevere, not restarting or powering down, just waiting.

    It took about 75 minutes, but the blue screen eventually was replaced by the typical setup dialog (name, dot-mac ID, etc.) The installation completed and everything seems to work fine.

    Your mileage may vary, but after a tense hour, it ended well for me.

    Just wanted to share the results of my call with Apple Care.

    I called with the same problem many of you have reported.
    - 15" MBP
    - Selected Upgrade
    - Ran through the install
    - Rebooted
    - Blue screen, black cursor, no activity

    I waited about 30 minutes before forcing the reboot. After bootup, same screen. I have Apple Care on the MBP so I called in.

    The rep told me that rebooting can actually cause damage if the system is going through it's HD verification process. He also said it can take up to 2 hours on my model of Apple. He gave me a case number and said to wait 2 hours, and if there's no change call back for more diagnostic steps.

    I'll update the post as things change.

    Same issue here on my MacBook Pro Core Duo. Blue screen before login window appears.

    I was excited. Now disappointed.

    More disappointed at lack of comment from Apple.
