DVD Not Recognized

Don't suppose you have another Mac you could try the disc on? 

I had the same problem. So I did the install on my Mac Pro and came back to my Macbook Pro for another attempt. It accepted the DVD and the installation proceeded without further problems.

Just keep trying.

Hope you got the Family Pack and aren't installing one copy on multiple machines! 😉

If you have external dvd drive, try to use that to make sure that the dvd installation is truly bad.

Otherwise you just sent back a working disk and will get same result if your optical that kinda failed to do its job.

I'm having the same issue with my iMac g4 17" with Superdrive. Installation went fine on my intel iMac, so I know the DVD's ok. Is there a minimum dvd drive requirement I'm missing (dual density, maybe)? G4 drive has always worked before. Any workarounds or suggestions?

popped in a DVD lenses cleaning disk, and now it recognizes the leopard DVD!

I am having the same problem with my PowerBook G4 1Ghz CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. All this anticipation to finally be able to sync my iPhone with my PowerBook. A Que!Fire CD/RW drive also failed to load the DVD. I wonder if the Apple store will have a DVD drive that I can use at the counter?

Can you post the information from the ring on the inside of the disc? This contains manufacturer information about the disc that may be helpful in tracking the issue down.

I know the problem! It wasn't made in China like my CD-RW/DVD-ROM

I hope I'm not giving up any kind of registered serial number for my copy of 10.5 that can be used for mischief.

Same problem. The disc just pops out after attempting to read.

I have a 2GHz MacBook Pro.

I inserted the iLife '08 disc; it worked fine!

I inserted my Leopard disc into someone else's Mac (a Powerbook G4) and it worked!

WHAT'S THE DEAL????

Same here ... MacBook Pro 2ghz (Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo). Disc works in my dual 2ghz G5, so I've just made image of the disk and burnt a copy. The copied disk works just fine.

I've tried the original disk in 3 MacBook Pros, same result - fails to even read the disk.
