    Hi,
Could you give us some more info as to the attachment type? What file format is it, and which program is trying to open it would be a good start. Let's face it, when it comes to word processing docs, Microsoft Office won't even open Microsoft Works files! So if they have come from a PC, you may need a specific program.

Hi, I having the same issue. I recently switched from PC to Mac and forwarded myself some docs. and rtf. files. Using Cox as my email provider, these attachments download automatically to Mac as doc.html and rtf.html files. I have tried to use Pages and the trial version of Word to open these files and all I see are wingdings or nothing at all. Do you have any idea what I can do to change this from happening or know of anything I should try to do? Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the reply. How exactly do i change the file name? I found the file on my computer under documents. From there, I can not figure out how to change the file name. I can right click on it, but i can't see where to change the file name.

I am having the exact same challenge and have not seen the resolve yet in the posts. I am new a PC to MAC user. Attachments in my email from a web-based server are obviously Word docs (.doc) but become .doc.html in the email and open messed up. I can't rename it in the download list. I have to do this to open each and every attachment; Download to the download folder. Move it from the download folder to the desktop. Right click on the file on the desktop to say "open with word" and eventually it will open in word in a normal format. This is way too many step to take to open a word document. Also, on the PC, you just clicked the link in the email and it opened, and only downloaded to the computer if you chose to do it. I don't want all my attachments downloaded.

Does anyone know how set it so it does not add .html to attachments? and, how to open without downloading to your computer?
