Insufficient power for USB multi port hub

Has anyone had this issue? I have tried installing a Dynex 7-port hub (twice - took first one back) and an 4-port D-Link hub. I keep getting an error message that reads:

Low power notice -
The USB device cannot operate because it needs more power than is available.
To correct this problem you can:
1) Plug the device into an electrical outlet if it has a power cord.
2) Unplug the device and plug it into another USB port on your computer or other device that is plugged into a power cord.

This is w/ the hub plugged in (even tried several outlets, several hubs, all three USB ports on my G5). Hardware works fine if plugged into computer direct, can't get anything to work through 3 hubs now. Apple chat room was stumped....anyone?

Hi all,
Just as an observation... I have two 4xUSB hubs daisy chained to my Power Mac running on the USB power, not AC. I have had no problems with them.

Maybe the seven USB hubs draw a lof of power initially promting the warning, but the hardware running from them doesn't draw so much power. It is very unlikely you will have seven different hardware running at the same time, so there should be no real problems if the hardware is functioning.

For Joel, whose hub is not working. You said you had tried three hubs. Are these differently configured hubs or the same type?
