HP Laserjet 3052 Scanner not working

So I upgraded to Leopard and everything seems fine except I cannot run the HP Scan software. The printer [art still works but I just cannot scan. I have tried reinstalling the software but it still not working. HP have no new software and drivers for it yet.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks,

Unfortunately, I've seen this before.

I don't know why I continue to tolerate this from HP, but EVERY time (since OS 10.1) there is a 10.x upgrade (change in cat name) the HP software breaks. At least this is better than 10.1 to 10.2 when the printer wouldn't work at all! That only took six months for HP to fix.

I strongly suspect this is a software problem on HP's side, and it will take a while to fix. I haven't had the patience to call HP customer support.

Sorry.

Kevin, I think you're right. HP's drivers need updating for the scanner functionality to work. I found this doc on HP's site that claims they'll have a software release "at the end of December 2007" that "will be focused on All-in-One and Scanner drivers to provide scanning and faxing functionality."

Let's hope they ship when they say they will (wouldn't that be a Christmas miracle? 😉

I just got an HP LaserJet 3052. The printer part works great right out of the box with Leopard. However, I cannot get the computer to recognize the scanner. Neither the HP software, Apple's Image Capture nor Vuescan can find the scanner. I find this puzzling and unacceptable, since Leopard has been out for months now. HP really needs to figure this out, otherwise I'll have no choice but to return the device.

I can confirm what everybody else in this thread has said and add one detail. I bought an HP 3055 all-in-one yesterday and after installing the software, not only wouldn't it scan ("waiting for PC..." forever) but it also wouldn't print, AND another HP printer elsewhere on my network STOPPED working.

After an hour on the phone with HP support (10 minutes just to register my info), the guy confirmed that there is no 10.5 driver, didn't know when there would be one, and added the following amazing fact. Not only does the software on the CD that comes with the printer/scanner not work with 10.5, it actually BREAKS its printing from Leopard (and similarly the 10.4 or earlier downloadable drivers from hp.com). He claimed that printing from 10.5 works on the 3055 out of the box, but if you are so reckless as to install the software that actually came with the printer, it permanently stops working. (Plus, apparently, stops the printing of other HP devices.)

He went on to say the only fix was to re-install the Mac OS âš . However, I can report that after un-installing every piece of HP software on my machine (using their uninstallers, not just deleting), then restarting, the printer now works, and so does the other HP printer on the network. (Scanning still doesn't work.)

Btw, echoing other complaints on this thread, the reason I bought a new HP scanner was because my old one had stopped working ever since (I think) 10.4, and I finally gave up.
