+hi, I cant export my video because when I do it says:+
*Unable to prepare project for publishing.*
The project could not be prepared for publishing
because an error ocurred (error code= -34 and sometimes -50)

The -34 (dskFulErr) means the system doesn't think you have enough disk space available to complete the export operation. Try deleting or moving files to free up additional space.
The -50 (paramErr) could be anything from corrupted/invalid data to a typographical error being passed to export module.
I seem to have the same problem and I think the solution is to NOT have moved your Movies directory. When I recreate a real directory (not an alias) iMovie8 seems to work as expected. Of course this is on the user dir of my user account of "Macintosh HD" and not my much LARGER and more appropriate Firewire connected drives.
The symptom for me is of a larger scope - when I exit iMovie nothing gets saved.
Apple - maybe the fix is to look at how iMovie8 saves files and to allow it to use more than one 'hard coded' place and don't 'expect that the Macintosh HD is where Movies always lives'.
Jon was right on about the message. I resolved my issue by deleting the iMovie Projects directory. I noticed as I was doing so, it requested the admin password. Note: my user had read/write access. For me it was a privileges/ACL issue.
This may have been a result of my migration from Tiger, where I had setup ACLs in some areas.
