Disappearing keychain? Leopard you magician you!

Leopard killed my keychain. Has anyone else had issues with a disappearing keychain. The thing is just gone. And my .mac sync is not bringing it back.

I have 2 MBPs and a Dual 2Gig G5 and you guys are scaring me 🙂
I will wait for this to die down. I understand there are already 2 updates to Leopard. You might see if they are available and install them if you have not already done so.
My Leopard is still not shipped, but reading your posts and others' is enlightening.
When I upgraded to Tiger on my G5 nothing special happened to anything. It smiled and went to work.

I don't know for sure yet that this is true, but someone mentioned elsewhere that Apple had reverted the default keychain name. In 10.3 it had been your username; in 10.4 it was changed to generic "login". Now, according to this unnamed individual's observation, it's back to username (e.g., "dave.keychain".

My login.keychain is definitely intact, but I also got keychain complaints on first boot. For the heck of it I made a copy of of login.keychain to dave.keychain. I really don't know for sure this will make a difference. I guess I'll need to make Safari or something add an entry so I can see which it gets...

I experienced the same problem, and can confirm that, for me at least, renaming the keychain fixes the problem.:-

I just duplicated my "login.keychain", renamed the copy to " username.keychain", then opened the keychain app and added my new " username.keychain". A quick logout / login and everything was back to normal...

I lost all by Keychains as well with my upgrade to Leopard 😟

Using Spotlight, I couldn't find my old Keychain files or new one for that matter (using the search criteria login.keychain or (my username).keychain.

I did clone my HD to an external drive prior to installing Leopard... so I guess I will have to attach that drive and look for my old Keychains there.

So far, this has been the biggest issue I have faced with Leopard. I had been using Keychain Access to manage all my passwords, account names, etc.. both for computer related matters and non-computer related matters. I always figured it the data would be safe there... Oh well... thank goodness for backups. I just hope I can retrieve the old file and import them into the new "reverted" empty Keychain that Leopard created.

I to have run into the same problem. I noticed that trying to save some airport passwords, the keychain "(my username)" did not exist. I checked Keychain Access and it looks like it shows both login.keychain and (username).keychain but that login contains all of my information. Also, a thorough search of the drive revealed no trace of any (username).keychain. I'm more than a little worried.
