After the Leopard install the airport card on my Dual 1.8 G5 is not being recognized (the airport menu reads "no aiport card installed". Of course there is a card and when booting a from Tiger there is no problem. It's a stock apple airport card. Any suggestions?
I don't yet have a solution for you... but am in the same boat. G4 1Ghz iMac... after installing 10.5, it no longer recognizes that I have an airport card installed. Hey, this is fun! I wonder what an old 10.3 or 10.4 OS will run me on eBay...
Pete:
I followed your suggestion and got nothing back on the next command line. I took the iMac apart, took out the Airport card and reinstalled hoping that it was just a pretty-unbelievable-coincidence that it would fail. The Airport card does not show up in the system profiler.
Jens - just how do you suppose I access the latest SW update?
I am in the same boat. Right after the Leopard upgrade (upgrading a completely up-to-date 10.4 system) it installed Login & Keychain Updater 1.0. That required a reboot, then "No AirPort card installed" after that.
After reading several other threads of semi-related topics, I decided that there's no harm in reinstalling the software. After placing in the disk and restarting you get the WELCOME splash screen. On the menu bar, you can choose to view the System Profiler prior to installation. My Airport Card did how up here - telling me that it's not a hardware issue. I'm in the process of re-installing 10.5 - which will take 1-2 hours to complete. I'll let you know how it works out.
Can you guys having problems check if the AppleAirPort2.kext is still present in your /System/Library/Extensions folder? It is an older Tiger-only AirPort driver that is no longer used on Leopard. You can simply delete it, or move it aside by changing the extension to something besides .kext. See if that fixes your problem.
Yep, same boat here. Airport running fine as usual after initial installation of Leopard, then 'no airport card installed' immediately after Login & Keychain Update 1.0 install and reboot..
