How to restore airport function without restart

I just started using the Airport wireless network (with a Netgear MR814v2 access point) with no encryption. It works fine until I get a phone call on my 2.4GHz cordless phone. The signal then drops. That is annoying but understandable because obviously the phone is interfering with the wireless network. (this is very reproducible behavior). The real problem is that after the interference is gone, the airport card is essentially frozen - there is no signal, attempts to configure the network do nothing (tried tricks like adding and deleting a fake preferred network), and the local wireless networks no longer appear (iStumbler also finds nothing). The only way I have been able to restore the function is to restart the machine (and of course have to restart all my work in progress).

This problem (or at least many slight variations) has been mentioned many times in the forums. I am not holding my breath for Apple to fix this fairly obvious bug. But I would at least be delighted if someone would tell me some way to reset the airport card without having to restart the machine.
