Photoshop 7 is dead - with Leopard

Well Leopard killed Photoshop 7 on my MacBook, don't know about my G5 yet.

PS7 might be dated, but do you buy a new car because you need an oil change, or just to keep up with the Jones's? C'mon. PS7 does EVERYTHING I have to do. I am VERY disappointed with Apple. Maybe they should have distributed a list of Software that is not compatible with 10.5 Leopard. I would have never guessed a new OS would be introduced that will not let a valuable ap like PS7 work. Bottom line is Photoshop 7.0 is not THAT dated.

I agree, We assume some things would be problematic. But not compatible..With no real announcements from Adobe. I belong to both user groups and Have not seen anything in either site that intimate this... and posted in another thread.
I have that whole suite, PS7, illustrator. All of it.
I was going to be upgrading shortly, but not yet. I guess I will wait to install Leopard till I have extra loot for CS3.
I have PSE 4 which I read in another thread that will work. I have been hearing that PHotoshop 7 was not going to be compatible with Leopard, but figured I would wait and see. I guess you have seen for me, thanks for posting, Ileen

However, if you take that approach that Apple did there job then you will be happy with a hydrogen powered car that only has a 100 mile range. Just because you have to fill up 3 or 4 times more a week is just part of the game.

What happens is Apple or MS release a new operating system and a lot of third party programs no longer work. If no one updates everything is cool. But then your boss buys a new computer with this new operating system and you send your boss a file from one of these applications but your boss can't open it. This requires everyone in the office to either (a) upgrade their software, (b) buy a new computer, (c) live with converting files for the boss, or (d) convincing your boss to down grade.

It is all part of the evil cycle of forcing people to upgrade and purchase things they don't need.

I don't think your Hydrogen reference makes a good comparison.

In any case, you make it sound like Apple is intentionally breaking applications so people update. Apple isn't doing this. There is simply an incompatibility. Maybe it does cause a problem. That's definitely inconvenient and I empathize, but expecting Apple to try to test and rewrite Leopard to work with every OSX program is unreasonable. Over time the shear fact that the operating system has to change will cause some problems with applications that are no longer updated by their creators.

Apple did their job, I agree I am just saying you don't have to be happy with the results.

At the same time you don't have to upgrade either, but because old applications will not work you will be forced to if you work with people who do upgrade.

Same thing with a hydrogen car, if everyone used them, the gas stations would only sell hydrogen and then you would be forced to upgrade. Then you would be not happy because the range of your vehicle is shorter.

I completely disagree with this question being marked as "answered" and those who suggest upgrading Photoshop.

Yes, Adobe's Leopard compatibility list states "not designed for Leopard" but guess what? There's tons of software not designed for Leopard still running on my computer!

Thanks to Apple's Rosetta, I have all kinds of old stuff still running like a champ.

This just doesn't make sense.

What does make sense to me is Apple's competition with Adobe. This smacks of Dr. DOS... Not fair Apple, not fair. Karma comes back around.

The TCO of Leopard just went up for me. Leopard + new Photoshop. Right here at the holidays too. Thanks Apple!
