10.5 and 1.5.6 much faster?

I just did a erase and install of leopard and installed Aperture 1.5.6

i copied my aperture.library from my backup to leopard.

Is it me or does Aperture seem to be much faster? it's snappy and doesn't bog down as much as before (10.4.10 with 1.5.5)

It seems faster to me, too. (Dual G5, 10.5 && 1.5.6)

But I don't know if that's because I spent the past ~month stuck using the crappy Canon Photo software that came with my 40D, or whether it's actually faster.

At the moment Aperture's importing in over a month's worth of pictures, and I'm still using the machine for all sorts of stuff. And popping back and forth into Aperture to view some of the pics as I see them flash by. I recall the entire system stuttering trying to do that w/ 10.4 pre 1.5.6 so I'm quite happy at the moment!

Unfortunately, I'm having the opposite experience. I've installed 1.5.6 & Leopard & Aperture is now painfully slow - I'm having to wait 5 or 6 seconds for rejects to disappear off the screen & the whole thing is really buggy now - for example, I'm constantly getting a blank preview screen pop up when looking at thumbnails. V. irritating - just trying to work through 5,000 images & am tearing my hair out. Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have a spare external hard drive?

I would be tempted to format it, do a bare 10.5 install on it, install aperture and it's updates, then take a backup copy of your Aperture library and open it up. See if you see the same behaviors. If you do, file a bug with Apple. If you don't, I would surmise there's something 3rd party installed on your machine that's screwing it up.

Quick question. I installed Leopard yesterday (after wiping the HD clean). I then installed Aperture 1.5 Academic (which I had on Tiger) from the installation DVD and copied the library from an external drive. Everything works fine.
The only problem is that I can't install Software Updates. First of all, they are not automatically suggested by the Software UPdates menu. I saw a note on Apple news about 1.5.6 and I downloadeded it. However, the installer said that I had to have Aperture 1.0 to install that and closed itself out. It's almost like the system does not know that Aperture is installed?

Any suggestions?

Thanks
