iSync conduit for Treo 650 no longer working after installing Leopard

After installing Leopard on my macbook I can no longer sync the calendar and address book with my Treo 650. I suspect this is a problem with the iSync conduit (which is responsible for calendar and address book) because all other HotSync conduits are still working. I don't get any error message; it just doesn't update the calendar on my Treo anymore.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5)

Is the conduit—named Apple, in the Finder—present in the active Conduits folder? That folder is located here:

Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync:Conduits

Have you determined that the conduit appears in the HotSync Manager's configuration dialog as iSync Conduit? If you select and configure it, is the option to enable synchronization with it checked?

Examine the conduit with the Get Info option. What does the <Version> string say?

Thanks. Yes, there is a conduit named Apple in the conduits folder. The iSync conduit also shows up in the hotsync dialog, and I verified that the "enable isync" box is checked.

I even removed all Palm software/files and reinstalled everything. The result is the same: I can sync everything fine except for the calendar and contacts (which are synced through the iSync conduit). When I do a hotsync I can even see the string "Synchronizing iSync Conduit" in the hotsync progress dialog. But it only shows up for a fraction of a second and doesn't sync anything. As I mentioned in my original post this problem started after upgrading to Leopard. I never had problems before.

The version for the Apple conduit is 3.1.0.

Below is the hotsync log from my last attempt. It looks like there is a "received NULL message". What does this mean?

I got the Treo from Cingular. The strange thing is that it was working until I upgraded my Macbook to Leopard. Maybe I'll try a hard reset of the Treo to see whether that fixes the problem.

It would be good to know whether there is someone who can successfully sync a Treo with a Mac running Leopard using iSync (for syncing with iCal).

I'm having a similar problem with my Treo 700p after installing Leopard. Addresses do not show up at all in my Treo, and although my calendar is present in my Treo, it does not update changes made on my Mac. Here is the hotsync result:

HotSync 3.2.1 started 10/28/07 1:52:42 PM
Local Synchronization
OK Install
iSync Conduit starting 10/28/07 1:52:44 PM
iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting... 10/28/07 1:52:58 PM
OK iSync Conduit
Voice Memo conduit cannot synchronize with the Voice Memo database on the Handheld, because the version of the database on the Handheld or the desktop does not match that expected by the Voice Memo conduit.
Voice Memo synchronization failed
“Voice Memo” failed (error = #-1)

I suppose that this is both good and bad news.

Good, in the sense that it clearly indicates that a Palm permissions problem was not triggered by an archive and install, as it most often is.

Bad, in the sense that this probably means that the iSync Palm Conduit installation script in the latest release of Mac OS X is not working properly, or that it installs a 'defective' conduit. This is a know problem with an earlier release of iSync 2.4 under Mac OS X 10.4.9 or 10.4.10, which is currently under investigation.

Sigh…

I am inclined to believe that you have both discovered a 'bug' in the latest package, which simply means that it too must be investigated, isolated and identified before a fix can be issued. I can supply a replacement conduit for Mac OS X 10.4.x users who are affected, but I am confident that I will likely be met by the same non-working or invisible conduit issue if I install Leopard and attempt to enable Palm synchronization.

Let's see if we can isolate it:

• can you confirm the identity using Get Info of the specific release of this iSync Palm Conduit?
• can you provide the build number for Mac OS X 10.5 installed on your machine?
• can you also provide the last three characters of your eleven character machine serial number?

I will see if I can obtain a working version of the latest conduit for temporary distribution to see if that resolves your issue.

I have a treo 680 (Cingular) and have finally figured out how to sync between Treo, iCal and Contacts. Was working great on Tiger. 2d ago I upgraded to Leopard (unfortunately, I did NOT do an archive - bummer!). I have been using The Missing Sync to hotsync. Missing Sync does not yet have a patch, but hopes to within next 90d (see this forum: http://forums.markspace.com/viewtopic.php?t=3176&highlight=leopard). I have not yet figured out how to hotsync with calendar. 680 should be very similar to 650. Any suggestions?
