Is is safe to switch users during backup?

When Time Machine is performing its backup, can I switch to a different user? My wife want to check some files on her user but I'm worried about letting her switch right now. Looks like it's going to be a while too.

I don't know if I will have problems, but I did switch users a lot during Time Machine backup with no apparent drawback.

Switching users or doing pretty much anything else during a Time Machine backup shouldn't be a problem, as the process is running in the background and does its stuff no matter who's logged in or not.
