iChat no longer connecting to Jabber server after Leopard upgrade

Just upgraded to Leopard yesterday, and the only significant glitch I notice so far is that iChat is now getting stuck in the "Connecting..." step when I try to get onto our Jabber server (which was working fine before the upgrade). Am now getting a "untrusted certificate" message now, which I also didn't get before, but I can continue and it does try to connect but gets stuck in doing so every time.

Have tried tweaking the jabber account server settings, but to no avail.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Cheers.

I had the same problem. As I recall, when you click on the "untrusted certificate" there is an option to "allow anyway" or "always trust" or something like that. After I clicked on that option, it connected. It would not connect if I just hit continue.

Hey! SO i was having the same problem but I discovered what was wrong. Actually I don't know what the problem was, but the solution to this is...........

1. delete your old jabber(google) account
2. add a new account, and then on the "type of account" there is a new one called Google Talk Account, and obviously pick that option !
3. enter username and password and BINGO! it works 🙂

Dear Jeremy,

Many thanks. I installed Adium, and it works fine. Quite a beautiful interface too, and more features than iChat for our Jabber system. Apple should fix the iChat issue fast, or I may not bother going back to it...

I will leave this query still marked as "unsolved" for now, since technically, the iChat problem is still not fixed, but for those in my situation, I recommend downloading Adium as an easy, free fix for now.

Cheers,

NewHouse.
