Hotmail in Leopard? was possible in 10.4 with HTTPmail

I used to be able to get my Hotmail in 10.4 with a plugin called HTTPMail but it does not work with Leopard. Does anyone know of another plugin that works with Hotmail and mail.app in Leopard?

A lot of other users have this issue (me included) - we'll just have to wait until httpmail is updated for Leopard - let's hope it won't take too long.

Right. This and temporary loss of MailTags were the two little annoyances I had post upgrade. I am sure that at least MailTags will be resolved soon. Hopefully Daniel Parnell is still supporting the httpmail plugin.

Good idea. I will do the same. Maybe if enough people contact him to let him know we are using it he will post an update. Rolf has already said he would look into the issue with MailTags so good to go there.

yeah, I need my Hotmail emails in Mail. I hate having to go to the website everytime.

So I had the same problem. I went to hotmail, signed into my account clicked on "options" and hotmail now offers forwarding. My hotmail is now forwarded to .mac address and I am set. Even if you just create a google mail address for this purpose it will get you your mail!

that is one work around Applegirl916 but then when you reply to one of those emails it will have a "from" the email address it was forwarded to........ so will wait for the update to HTTPMail.

Yeah, I just noticed this too, as was surprised to see this. But, then my surprise was gone, after I tried to forward my email to a gmail account it says:

"You're only able to forward mail to a custom domain or an e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, or live.com. Please try again."

I was able to forward mine to my .mac account with no problems. Received a verification email almost instantly.

I followed applegirl's explanation and created a gmail account to forward my hotmail mail but hotmail doesn't forwards to this mail address. I used httpmail with mail 2.0 in Tiger and that worked just fine. I hope they update the plug-in very soon...

My understanding, if you check the salesforge.net site is the HTTP Hotmail plugin is no longer being updated or upgraded.

I hope a smart dev type picks up the challenge.

To reply to geek dad.....if you click on the original senders address you can choose from the drop down reply to original sender. I know just a work around...but a viable one. Yes, I have discovered that gmail doesn't work.... my .mac works fine though. Sorry for the confusion.

This is not an issue for me ...but it seems a backward step ..why do this to users Mr Jobs!!

It would be also useful if things like this (and that printers will need to be reinstalled etc) were listed in the front of the leopard guide that comes with the DVD!!

Oh this is not good if true. But today I went Gmail. Excited to be done with the whole mess - the darned Gmail is marking 'good' emails as spam (repeatedly in tests), and there's no way to disable OR decrease the filter. (now seriously, isn't that the ******** thing you ever heard?)

It's not really Apple's responsibility to make sure Microsoft's awful free email system works with their client. If you're going to be upset with Apple about anything, it should be charging money for .Mac, because if it were free... folks like you and me could wave Hotmail goodbye forever.

And don't tell me to go to gmail. Some Russian squatter registered the alias I've used everywhere on the internet since 1997.
