Sync Icon on Toolbar

An icon on the toolbar apparently used for syncing to .mac won't go away and keeps popping up a window to say I have conflicts in my address book and iphone. I checked...info looks fine in both places. Yeah, doesn't make sense to me either. I don't have a .mac account. The only options under this icon are "sync now," which seemingly does nothing, and "open .mac sync preferences." Tried that...no option to turn this feature off.

Where do I go to turn this icon/feature off?

Same thing happened to me. To get rid of the sync symbol from the menu bar just click the apple key and pull the symbol off of the menu with the mouse. It will disappear with a poof.
