Saving customized email stationary templates

Is it possible to save an email stationary template that has been customized? I have tried several ways to save this email template to use for a particular email address list and I cannot find a way to save this stationary. Thanks for the help.

Yes, Save as Template is not clickable. Too bad because I love the stationary option, but I won't use it if I have to recreate the template with every email. I coach a basketball team and have an email blast list for the parents, so I thought the stationary would be cool. Apple will probably fix it in 10.5.1. I now see that others would like to have the option for business emails....... 😟

That's the $64,000 question. Should be obvious, but is sure isn't. I can't find the templates anywhere.

Of topic, but new Preview has some great new tools...and it is completely unusable. Virtually any action causes a crash (I just finished sesnding a least a half dozen crash reports to Apple). When it's debigged it'll be very useful for quick and dirty image tasks.

Mail templates are located in:

/Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationary

The stationary files are packages that can be opened up at which point you can see all the image and file components. It does not, however, appear to be a straightforward process for making these templates. You might just want to tinker around with one of the existing templates first before making your own.

Only method for custom templates I can find is to build a document in html in dreamweaver or similar app, then view this saved doc in safari. Once in safari choose to mail contents of page. Mail app will appear with your custom design. Then you can save as stationery. It will appear in the custom section when composing a new message. I've tried diligently to add the temp image placeholder feature Mail app uses with photos to enable switching out pics - but to no avail. You can open the saved draft email in text edit by locating the appropriate "emix" file in your usename>library>mail folder... all the code is there but editing it properly is beyond my skills.

Yes, great idea, James. Presumably one could do the same in any application that can save to html (Word, iWeb).

Another thought is that one might be able to create a Mail template in the new version of Pages. I don't have it, so I don't know for sure.

I have noticed, however, that some Mail templates do not display fully when received by Windows users. Don't know why. If you want to be absolutely sure the recipient will see everything you format, best to create a PDF.
