Hi Folks,
i'm Francesco from Italy so sorry for my english 😟
After upgrading to Leopard mt PSC 1510 doesn't work fine as on Tiger.
Scan features are not recognized by Leopard!!
Anyone have same all-in-one model and solved this problem?
Thanks in advance for your precious help!
Bye Bye 🙂
Lot's of people are having problems with HP Scanners and Printers on MacOS X.
HP don't provide very good support for products after the 2-year warranty. They provide no support for people using older hardware with newer Operating Systems. My 4-year old ScanJet 4670 doesn't even have proper drivers for Vista!
My advice would be to contact HP and ask about updated drivers for Mac OS X.5

Hi Francesco. I have solved my Problem with my HP 2510. I deleted the file printers on the hd, removed the hp software and deleted also all printer driver in the folder receipts. Than i reinstalled the latest software from hp and everything is working now properly.Scanning and printing.
Hope this is helpful to you also.
Good Luck.:-)
Hi applebee7711 and thanks a lot for your suggest!!
You deleted file printers, hp software and driver manually?
Could you tell me how do you remove them?
I installed the latest version of HP software (9.5 version universal) and now the 1510 print and scan, but the printer frontal panel doesn't work 😟
Please help me if you can.
Thanks in advance!!
Francesco - Italy.
Can you give me a little more details on how you got the PSC-2510 working with Leopard? I can't get it to work.
1. You said to delete Folder 'Printers' on the HD where is this location.
2. You said to delete Folder 'Receipts' on the HD where is this location.
3. What version of the HP software are you using, the latest I found was 7.9 from HP's web site.
4. When you installed Leopard did you upgrade or fresh install and did you select to install printer drivers?
5. What system are you using PPC or Intel Mac?
I can't even get the printer software to install it stops at copying files 23, this is using version 7.9.
Another sad user from Italy. I'm Stefano. Happy to know that I'm not the only one with the install issue. Same problem. I have a psc 1315: no Bonjour support: the Choose pinter "sees" the printer on Bonour but no driver is selected, and no psc 1315 driver appears in the list.
I had the same problem with Tiger. But now on my MacBook the conputr doesn't see the scanner and I'm unable to reinstall the software. I have the same 23 files issue.
Hi Marshall.
1.printers folder is located on the hard drive-library-printers
2.reiceipts folder is located same-library-reiceipts
3.i have used the same software 7.9 from hp website
4.i did an upgrade to leopard and had installed the drivers , but deleted them later(see 1)
5.i use a macbook
So first remove the printers folder, then the drivers manually one by one from the receipts folder, then remove the hp software. After this i deselected the hp in the printer preferences and then install the hp software again. And then it should work. Check in the printer preferences your printer, i had first the hp fax in there. Remove it and select the printer and thats it. I have done it on 2 macbooks and both are working now properly.
Good luck.
I reinstalled the software from the installation disk, then downloaded HP Image Zone Software for Mac OS 10.2.8 and later from hp.com and updated the software.
I tried the suggestions on this thread but still could not get the Installer to work. So what Id did was Right-Clicked on the Installer and selected show Package Contents, and went to the Sub-Installer Folders and ran every installer individually. I than ran the HP Setup Wizard in the Hewlett-Packard Directory under Applications, repaired permissions, and I can print and scan. Fax, Memory card reader and initiated a scan from the printer does not work.
I have lost the use of my PSC 2510 after my upgrade to 10.5. After the upgrade, there were no printers installed. I was able to install my IP printer at the office with no trouble, but when I got home to install my PSC 2510, I found the driver was not included with the OS, and that the ver 7.9 of the installer would not run on my computer. I poked around on the web, and found that there is an issue with " case sensitive file systems" with the HP installer. As far as I know, I am running HFS+. I went into the 7.9 installer package, and tried to install all the individual files, but still, I can't see the 2510 as an option when I try to add printer.
Any advice as to how to proceed? I am curious as to why you can run the installer, but it basically hangs up when I try to do it on a very similar computer.
Hmm.. I tried the method you suggested that is install all the ones inside the application and fired up the Installation wizard. However while it is looking for the devices it comes up with an alert saying that the "Shared Memory Service" is not setup and it quits. Tried on 2 different leopard box with the same result. Did you see this?
I'm having the same problem with my 1510 after getting a new MacBook Pro with Leopard. It worked fine with my iBook G4 running Tiger.
When I originally started using my new computer, I could print but not scan. According to the OS X 10.5 page on the HP support site, they have not updated the Image Zone software for 10.5, and they only hint that the older software will work on Leopard.
I tried installing ImageZone, and now all of my apps crash if I try to print. So, I uninstalled the HP software and now I can't find a Leopard driver for the machine at all. HP thinks there is a 'custom' install on the Leopard CD where you can find the driver, but I can't find it. Guess they couldn't bother to also add it to their own Web site. Crazy.
My printer is only just two years old - ridiculous that they seem to quit supporting any product model after it's been around for two years. What's even more annoying is that it suddenly started complaining about some kind of problem after every print job, meaning I have to reset it each time I print something. Terrible craftsmanship that it doesn't last but two years.
I'm this close to replacing this system with an Epson. I had to call HP support for another matter, and they pretty much made it clear that they don't really strive to support Mac users. They wanted to charge me to speak to a Mac specialist, and they don't train their online chat reps to support Mac. If I had a PC, free online support.
You should find the psc 2510 driver on the OS X.5 upgrade disk. Put the disk in an click options and drivers and find it in the list and install it. It was on my Leopard disk but I had to find it and install it myself.
I followed the advice of wavethree: I manually installed the HP drivers from the Leopard disk, then went to the HP site and downloaded the HP Image Zone software for "Mac OS10.2.8 and later", installed it, then shut down my computer and printer. When I started everything back up, there was an IZ Image Zone icon in my dock. I started to scan by pushing the scan button on the printer, but no software launched. So I manually launched the IZ software and selected "Devices" from the three buttons on top. There's an option to scan. I pressed it and the program "HP Scan" launched. I successfully scanned my document. So I guess I have to manually launch the scan software but at least it works!
I don't know how many of these steps were needed (e.g. shutting down) but now it works. I also tested the printing function to make sure I didn't lose that, and it works normally with Cmd-P.
