Need Recommendation on PCI Firewire card for 2Gh 1st gen

I think the built-in fire wire is dying. My tale of woe started when I bought a MacAlly Firewire400/USB 2 powered hub (since disconnected) my 2 external drives keep unmounting or i get finder freezing when i try to move any thing more than a few Gigs at at time (the limit seems to be 3Gb, it will freeze after 2.8 is transferred) So if figure it's going to be cheaper to get a card and test my drives rather then buy new ones and test that way. I have an iSight, apple pro speakers that use a firewire port, OWC Mecury Elite 80Gb, a LaCie Porche 160Gb, and iPod pluged in. My iPod was also having problems only after using that MacAlly thing. Having problems with both the front 400 and the back ports. I have done every update with all firewire devices turned off and discontected I could only be safer if I had put them in a different room when updateing.
Thanks John
