Endless disconnecting of Bluetooth mobile phone data connection

I cannot get the internet connection from my Treo 700p via Bluetooth DUN to work under Leopard.

Have any advice for getting it working? I've tried the usual "turn off Bluetooth on Treo, reset Treo, turn on Bluetooth" routine.

I have exactly the same problem. I have been able to connect 3-4 times through my Nokia N95 using bluetooth. But suddenly the connection breaks. When I try to reconnect nothing happens. It says: "Connecting" a couple of times. The "Disconnecting...". The disconnection message stays until I reboot. It VERY annoying that I cannot stay connected and that I need to reboot to get rid of the annoying message (I can of course hide it, but it doesn't solve the problem).
After reboot I can connect ... sometimes. Most often it won't work.
I would really love to get a solution to this problem (a google search indicates that this problem is quite old... but some people seem to be able to connect using the N95). I'm from Denmark and use the "3" network, if this is of any help.

It was just about bearable in Tiger but now in leopard it's a joke!

I regularly use my N95 3G connection on the train and have to reboot every time I go through a tunnel and the signal drops.

try (in terminal):

sudo killall -9 pppd

or do a force kill of pppd from activity monitor

Same problem here. Don't like "me too" messages, but I hope this helps to get attention for this problem!

I'm also getting this problem still, after two revisions of Leopard and plenty of prior reports. 3G/Bluetooth is really useful to me and it's very frustrating to have this recurring problem

I can't kill pppd in Activity Monitor nor from the command line.

sudo killall -9 pppd

Did not fix the problem for me.
I was able to hold a bluetooth connection with my Samsung a900m to access the internet for over 7 hours

The constant scrolling of "Disconnecting..." is quite distracting.

I've even tried turning on the bluetooth on my phone again,.. but it didn't help.

one more "me too". I'm wonder if Apple is going to fix it or not. It's almost half year since Leopard has been released and problem still exists. It's very annoying and breaks Apple image i have.

Just wanted to add the "me too" to this thread. I use a Motorola V3XX phone w/ ATT service for bluetooth data tethering. The call will drop, then I get the spinning "Disconnecting". I haven't found a fix for this yet.

Please help, Apple.

I managed to get out of this by killing pppd's parent process configd - not really sure this is a good idea though, launchd does appear to re-launch it ok after I brutally killed it and my menubar came back ok after a couple of seconds. But to be honest this is likely not a good idea!

Nokia N95 on the 3 Australia network.

Same here (as opposed to "me too")! I'm using a Nokia BT enabled phone that worked fairly well in Tiger (I had the occasional "disconnecting" hang) but having absolutely no luck with Leopard 10.5.2. It won't even connect anymore. It just hangs right after a connect attempt. I usually have to log out or reboot. It's highly frustrating since this was working and the upgrade to leopard has completely broken it.

Me too. Yes, killing configd (sometimes) helps, but it leaves an orphaned pppd proccess still running and unkillable. So you still may have difficulties reconnecting. I also have a freeze when shutting down.

I will now roll back to Ross Barkman's (http://www.taniwha.org.uk/) Generic GPRS CID1 script (instead of Apple's shiny new Nokia script) and post the results here.
