Keyboard issues while installing Windows XP with Bootcamp

Hi there,
I am running bootcamp and when I am starting to install Windows XP I can't actually move into the setup because the keyboard won't work. Is there anyone who found a solution?
Thanks.

I too am having this problem. I was using the beta 1.1 fine and uninstalled. 2.0 can not get the work through the Keyboard issue nor the format issue. Bedos locked the KB also. This KB problem is sounding like the Firmware/Bios. I updated the bios back in September but never tried this out as I did not have the 1.1/1.2 installed any longer. The current version of the Firmware is IM61.0093.B07. I was going to try an back it down to the version I had prior to Sept to no avail.

I had the same problem -- no keyboard function in the blue XP setup screens. My keyboard was plugged into a rear USB port on my Mac Pro. I got round it by plugging a second Apple keyboard into a front USB port while at the blue setup screen and that one worked! Once past the blue screens the first keyboard worked again and has carried on working fine so I unplugged the second one. Don't know why this worked, but if you've got a spare keyboard give it a go!

Now I can't install the Windows drivers from the Leopard disc -- it freezes every time part way through the installation.

Getting Windows working is a real pain in Leopard at present, nothing has gone right for me.

OK,

Reset the SMB or something like that. I can only tell from my iMac. Shutdown so it completely powers off and then unplug all cables from the back including the power cord. Wait 30 secs and plug the power cord back in then Keyboard and then all the other cables. After you power on it should take care of the Keyboard and mouse issue.

Still working on Windows issues with format but I am getting ready to try the BeeDOS solution that I have been seeing.

I had this problem with my USB keyboard and Mighty Mouse. The fix was to unplug the mouse completely after selecting 'Start the Windows Installer' under Boot Camp Assistant. Use only the keyboard to get through the Windows install and only plug the mouse back in after installing the Apple Windows drivers.

Same problem..........went back to the old keyboard and everything installed and worked fine in OS X and win-XP. swapping in the new alum keyboard the option key doesn't work during the boot select. once the machine boots to the default OS either mac or windows everything works in that OS.

Something I noticed: during the boot select.... the old keyboard gets power immediately, mouse lights up - keyboard cap-lock light is on. with the new alum keyboard the mouse and cap-lock light do not light until the default OS starts to boot with no boot select in between.

Looks like a boot camp setup doesn't know about the new keyboard even though it is recoginized by drivers in the two OS's. anyone know who to call for help at Apple?
