SBCGlobal Yahoo Mail...accessing folders and sending mail?

Hello fellow IPhone users,

I have an SBCGlobal Acct which I have set up on my IPhone (after several attempts) which allows me to read and send my emails. Unfortunately, all of the folders that I have on that account that I can access via a regular computer don't show up on the IPHONE.

I found this page on the AT&T Yahoo page...

Has anyone got this to work successfully so that you can see all of your personal email folders and also be able to send mails from your SBCGLOBAL email account?

P.S. I haven't upgraded my IPHONE to the new update yet (too scared to do so even though I haven't modified my phone!)

Is it an IMAP or POP3 account?

You can get the folders on IMAP, not on POP3

My current configuration on the IPHONE with my SBCGLOBAL account has the incoming mail server set to pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and the outgoing mail server set to smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com + a couple of tweaks on the actual mail website via my laptop.

I can access my mail and read and send mails but I've never gotten the folders this way.

As I see from the forums, lots of folks have had issues with their SBCGLOBAL accounts, either not being able to send emails (that was the first issue I saw with my account on the IPHONE but I was able to view my folders then) or not being able to see their folders or both issues.

I was hoping that someone out there has finally gotten things to work such that you can read and send emails and file them into folders as needed.

There is your answer. Its a POP3 account which does not download folder information.

Thanks for your answers, much appreciated...

So here's what I'm looking for....Has anyone out there been able to get IMAP working with SBCGLOBAL email accounts at all, meaning they can send emails with no problems and be able to sort their emails into their personal folders, which they can also see on their IPHONES?

You'd need to call them and ask if there is an IMAP option for your account.

I'm late replying to this thread, but you don't get IMAP from AT&T/sbcglobal. But you can use imap services by settings up your sbcglobal account using the yahoo settings. Click add new account, Yahoo, and use your sbcglobal email address as your user id. Just like logging into webmail on yahoo.

Hello Cambie,

How did you set this up? Were you able to see folders AND send emails? When I first bought my phone back in Aug or so, I discovered how to set it up and see my folders but I couldn't send emails (I got the swoosh sound but no copy showed up in my sent mailbox). Since that seemed to be more important than folders, with the help of a retail clerk at my local apple store, I was able to be able to send emails but can't view folders now.

Hello there,

I just spoke to an Apple techie at 1-800-694-7466....guess they made a modification sometime this month that now allows for sbcglobal accounts to work when set up as a Y! Mail account. I turned off my sbcglobal account that Anny helped me set up and then set it up again using Y! Mail and now I can successfully see my folders and send emails from that account via my IPHONE.
