Another Leopard Problem - Front Row & Airport Express/Airtunes

Just upgraded to Leopard.....

Now Front Row won't stream music through my Airport Express to remote speakers, although itunes will. What's going on and how do I fix this?

Using Front Row as a an interface for itunes streaming music wireless through my airport express connected to my hi-fi and distributing into to speakers in different rooms as an extremely vital function from my computer to have. It would be disgraceful if this functionality is not available in Leopard.

Apple is certain to address this. For all of the AirPort Express and AirTune's history, the ONLY application that Apple gave access to the AirTunes audio was iTunes. With Front Row 1.x, iTunes was playing the audio and you had access to AirTunes and your wireless audio. Now Apple will need to give Front Row access to AirTunes as well. I can't believe their intention was to "remove" this feature. Since third-party applications like AirFoil give other applications access to AirTunes, certainly Apple can also forge an update that will give Front Row access. We'll just have to wait for a Front Row, AirPort or system update to make this work.

i also have the exact same problem. however, one thing i did notice was that in System Preferences> Sounds that only internal speakers are listed as Sound Output, there is no option to either Add Airtunes nor is it listed. i tried to add Airtunes / Airport Express remote speakers, but this was not an option. i am not sure if this is relevent but i thought it might be noteworthy.

Have you seen the posts for the Leopard upgrades? I bet they're having a field day in Operations after this upgrade -- hands full everywhere.

I also have the same problem, so I guess it's nice to know it isn't just me. I can wait it out -- playing music through iTunes is still working to other ones, but I will watch for updates here.

The new "look" for Front Row really is pretty, though, and I'm happy to be able to say it hasn't crapped out, and the screen saver is a great addition. I would just like to be able to use my remote speakers!

Seriously, this annoys me as **. This isn't the only feature Apple removed in Leopard, but it's the single one that actually had me thinking about rolling back to Tiger again.

It won't happen, since I like Time Machine way too much. But Apple needs to address this, and in a hurry. I'm glad I still have an AirFoil license, but it's nowhere as smooth as when it just functions out of the box.

It would be nice to have get the original docked folder function back as an optional stacks view as well. When those two features are back again and I will shut my mouth and be happy!

Oh man. Add me to the list of seriously disappointed. I'm another one using my Mac Mini as a media hub and this is a serious feature loss for me!

This is one of several problems I've noticed by decoupling Front Row from itunes... it also annoys me that you can't select a song in itunes and have it continue playing in Front Row anymore.

And the one feature I really wanted -- scrolling by letter WASN'T added!

Hoping for a Front Row upgrade VERY soon!

This was disappointing to discover. I hope this was indeed an oversight and not a design decision. Makes Front Row 2.0 pretty much useless for me since my primary use of Front Row was to browse my music and stream it to my Airport Express. Not fun when an upgrade includes a feature loss. Sounds like I'm not alone. Send your feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
