Ethernet MAC Address Rested to 00:00:00:00:00:00

After upgrading to Leopard, everything was fine for the first day or so, then I notice that the ethernet connections disappered and I can no longer connected to my LAN using Cat-5.
After doing clean installs and even downgraded back to Tiger, it seems to me that OS X no longer detects my on board ethernet and I can no longer connect to my network with it.

However, the weird part is that the card works perfectly when I use it in Bootcamp, under windows xp. It gets it s ip via dhcp and everything is happy there...
After a bit more investigation using ipconfig /all, I found that the MAC address for the on board NIC is now changed to 00:00:00:00:00:00... could this be why it is not detected in OS X? and if so, is there ANYWAY to get it back?

I have a similar issue. After upgrading my G4 to leopard in target mode from my MacBook Pro, my network stack became hosed up. My ethernet no longer works and my wireless will only work under leopard. I took the box to the local mac store and they advised me to reinstall 10.4 which I have done twice and it did not fix my problem. I installed leopard on the MacBook pro and now my wireless works but my ethernet is still jacked. Is anyone aware if there are some firmware updates that are applied from leopard. This has really jacked up my mac and not really sure where to turn. Maybe a call into apple care is in order.
