Leopard - Keyboard Freeze?

I installed Leopard last night (Erased and Installed) and thought that everything went fine until I started noticing that my keyboard freezes up every now and then. Keystrokes don't register for about a minute and then everything works fine again. Keystrokes that I enter when the freeze happen do not 'buffer' and are completely lost.

Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Thanks!

I hate to say this in a Mac forum, but my upgade to Vista went a lot smoother, in fact, I had no problems at all.

I am a new Mac user and I have to say that I am disappointed. It was almost like Apple released Leopard without adequate testing. After other problems with my Alesis mixer not working with Leopard, I finally reverted to Tiger yesterday.

This is happening to me too. In fact it just happened as I tried to compose this message. Usually when I notice it the keyboard wakes up after 5-10 seconds of tapping on the keyboard.

This is very frustrating and there are a number of threads on here with similar symptoms after installing 10.5.

This mac is only about two weeks old, so it's not happening because I have tons of legacy software installed.

Hi
I have the Exact Same Problem,

On my MBP with Leopard.

There are 3 quick fixes(it doesn't resolve the issues permanently), but Apple needs to fix it :

1) Try Plugin in USB device and make sure it initialises like a USB Stick. (It works for me)

2) Press "Numlock" repeatedly for about 3-4 sec. then the obviously the Light comes on and the Keyboard is work.

3) I have a Bluetooth Mouse if, I switch it on and off ... as soon as it picks up the mouse the Keyboard works again.

Lastly tell Apple about it here:

Hope it works.

I'm having the same problem:

- Keyboard freezes (internal MacBook Pro keyboard or external USB keyboard)
- The mouse continues to work and the system remains otherwise responsive.
- Keyboard eventually comes back.
- These problems are new since leopard

I wanted to add another observation:

My "delete" key continues to work while the rest of the keyboard is unresponsive. Anyone else notice this?

A couple of questions:
1) Does anyone think that this problem happens more when they are using PowerPC vs Universal(Intel) programs? It is hard with an intermittent problem, but I think this might be the case for me.
2) Do most folks who are experiencing this problem have Parallels or VMWare installed?
3) Do most folks have the Microsoft intellipoint software installed?

I had the same problem and so I called Apple, after going through a bunch of things, they had me reset my P-RAM (I have no idea what that is), but it worked (for about a week or so and then I just had to do it again)

1. Shut-Down computer
2. take out battery and then hold the power button for 5 sec
3. reinsert the battery
4. restart computer holding down the command (apple) key, the "p" key, the "r" key, and the "option" key. The computer will start-up once (mac the mac startup sound) then shut down and start up again, after it makes the startup sound the second time, release the 4 keys and let it startup...this should solve the problem (at least temporarily)

To let you know. I have a 15" Macbook Pro running Leopard
2.4 GHz and 2 GB RAM

Hope this helps

I have the same problem! So far it only happens when I'm using a program from 2004 Office for MAC (i.e. Word, Excel, Entourage etc. It hasn't happen when using any other program. I tried re-installing Office 2004... problem still exists. Actually, all the Office 2004 programs are problematic. They lockup often and Power Point will not even close. I have to "force quit" every time I open it. Very frustrating!!! Actually, it's unacceptable!! I'm a new MAC user and I'd like to go back to Tiger (my new MAC Pro was shipped with Tiger and I ordered Leopard after the fact) but I don't know how to go back?? If someone could point me in the right direction on how to re-install Tiger, that would be great. I will look around here to see if I can find some info.
