Tab Button Not Switching Fields In Safari

When I have the cursor blinking on a text field in Safari and then press the TAB button, the cursor does not switch fields. Instead, it adds a small space in the text field much like it would do in Word, Pages, etc. It literally adds the TAB space in the field instead of switching to another field.

How can I fix this?

I'm having the same problem. I've gone into keyboard & mouse settings as suggested under System Preferences but that didn't fix anything.

I've found that if I hit "option w/ tab" then it will shift fields but this has never been necessary and it's absolutely annoying.

All day I've been typing in my username and password in the same field because of this glitch.

I also tried to fix it w/ the advanced tab in preferences under safari by clicking on and off "press tab to highlight each item on a webpage" but that didn't fix it.

Any thoughts? Please help me make my mac a beautiful machine again.... I hate it when it starts to resemble a PC in any way, shape or form.
