What does "Merge In Transit NL" mean ?

Hi all,

I've ordered a Powermac from the Apple store, UK. Since the order shipped, the shipping method has been listed as "Merge In Transit NL". Does anyone know what this means ?

Anyone willing to share how long your order took to arrive after shipping would be much appreciated!

Finally, does anyone know how I can track a shipment and see where it is and how much longer it is likely to be ?

Assuming you have ordered a display and G5, they are consolidated so that they are delivered to you at the same time, (as one is not much use without the other!)the display being a stock item and the G5 built-to-order.

I think this is done in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

And once your order is despatched they give you the code to track it on the TNT site.

Hi Wayne,

The term you're asking about should be highlighted in blue so that you can click on it for a page of acronym descriptions.

Also, you should be provided with a shipping number that you can click on that will launch the website to the delivery company handling your order (Ie: FedEx, UPS, etc). You will be able to track it online from there.

I don't know how long orders to the UK take, so I can't help you there. I do know that custom orders take a lot longer. Apple products also come from all over the world (Ex: PowerBooks come from Japan, G5s from California, some accessories from Texas, etc). Clearing customs takes a while too, so account for that (my PowerBook took 3 days to clear Canadian customs alone).

If in doubt about what's going on, call the Apple Store or the delivery company (if you know who is handling it and have a delivery number) to find out what the hold up is. If you don't have a delivery number, Apple will tell you what it is when you call.

Hope that helps you out a bit. Have fun with your new Mac when it finally gets to you!

Cheers,

~Sheri

Hmm - interesting...

I've ordered a powermac and a software product, no display. I'm sticking to my old display for now for budget reasons 😉

I've been e-mailed an order number and a delivery reference number, but I can't find any mention of the delivery reference number on my order summary page. The summary page just says that it has been shipped, and if I click on the word shipped it takes me to a page saying
"We've shipped your order to you. If you haven't received it yet, you can track your shipment from the order status page."

I can't see anything on the order status page that would let me track that though.

Hmmm... I'm just dying to know when it will be here as I am out of the country 2 days this week and I need to plan to get it collected from my office 🙂

This is old stuff but it might work. If you go to:

http://www.tnt.com/webtracker/tracker.do?searchType=REF&respLang=en&respCountry= GB&sourceID=1&sourceCountry=ww&genericSiteIdent=&navigation=1&plazakey=

and enter the shipment number, you may find it. Sometimes you have to leave off the first '8' as it only needs 9 digits.

On second thoughts - much easier to phone Apple tomorrow.

According to order tracking on Apple's website my new Dual Core PMG5 shipped on Saturday 29 Oct from Cork, Ireland, it's still not here yet.

It also says on Apple's website that my Apple Display is with 'Flextronics c/o Express Cargo' and my PowerMac is with 'Kuhne & Nagel' whatever those are??
I also hear that Apple send their products out from Ireland then on a grand tour of Europe before reaching the UK? If so any idea why? This is making my head hurt and I am losing the will to live!

Hmm. As in your other post...:

theclash, "Brits, Dual Core PMG5, how long until delivery?", 07:31am Nov 4, 2005 CDT

(I think) Flextronics, Venray, NL hold the stock displays. The G5 is built-to-order in Cork. The two items are consolidated in Eindhoven, NL and then shipped to UK.

Kuhne & Nagel are shipping and forwarding agents sorry, 'Logistics Providers', who will, most likely, hand the consignment on to TNT for UK delivery.

Hope your head is better.

I ordered a PMG5 (+memory & bluetooth) on 20th October. It shipped on 3rd Nov. Today, Apple's site still just says shipped. But they do give a TNT tracking number. As I've no other goods, the destination is my home and not to meet up with a monitor in Holland!

From the TNT web site I can see it left Cork at 19:39 yesterday but it's been unchanged since. A phone call (to an extremely helpful man at TNT) provided the information that it goes on to Dublin but that's an internal move(!) which rarely gets logged on the site but that if I cared to keep looking over the weekend it should make its way from Dublin to the Midlands (I think he said) depot and from there to the local depot who should deliver it to me Monday. I'll be sitting just inside the door waiting!
