Weird Pink Artifacts in Display

I have a DP G5 / 1.8, connected to a Samsung 21.3" LCD monitor. Using the stock (low end) nVidia 5200 card. Digital connector.

In the last few days, I've noticed that several applications show what appears to be occasional pink horizontal stripes, especially when the application has a gray background. Example: Toast 7.

I opened PhotoShop, and found that in the color picker window, the pink stripes are actually just pink-ish patterns in some areas.

This doesn't affect the entire display, and it appears to follow certain areas of the application, and not isolated to fixed areas of the monitor. But I can't figure this out!

I tried resetting the NVram (had to look it up). No help.
And I've rebooted.

I have no ideal whether this means that I need a new video card, or what.... I've never seen this before. It may have been there, but it's possible that I just haven't noticed.

Or, it's possible that it's a new problem that came aboard w/ 10.4.

Comments? I'm all ears.

You are using a G5 tower with the little video adapter thingie? If so, I've had this happen...the adapter develops some kind of short in there somewhere, causing the pinkish coloration on the screen. Changing the adapter for me fixed the problem. This happened on two different G5 towers running 10.3.9.

UPDATE:

Turns out that I'd narrowed it down to the Monitor.

And just so you know...

The support group at Samsumg is extremely un-helpful. They promised an RMA replacement on a certain day, and it NEVER arrived. After one month of waiting, I called for a status update, and they told me that they just wanted to REFUND my money!
I've had this thing for six months, and it developed the problem after five months, or so...

So, I went out and purchased (that same day) a 23" Apple Display. No weird pink lines. Very happy w/ the image quality.

Bottom Line: I am really, really unimpressed w/ Samsung. They have what I would characterize to be a support infrastructure incapable of resolving simple customer issues and repairs, etc.

No, I haven't received a refund from Samsung yet; I'll have to jump through a dozen hoops first. And given their track record, I'd be surprised it I ever see the check.
