VPN and PPPoE problems

I am having problems connecting to the internet. In Tiger there was the option in the built in ethernet to connect over PPP. There is not an option to do this in Leopard. I can setup all of the other features to connect to the network, but I cannot access any websites.

My ethernet connection gets the wrong DHCP address if I use dhcp, and if I turn it off it simply doesn't work. Any idea what option I need to select to force the built in ethernet to use PPP by default?

One more question. When you open your sys prefs -->Network prefs, Light up your eithernet connection and next to the configure on the right, open the menu, is there create PPPoe Service at the bottom of that list? If there isn't (or even if there is) maybe try to delete vpn and PPPoE connection that you currently have and use the one at the bottom of this list. Its a long-shot but stranger things have happened.

Interestingly, the VPN client that's a part of the old Internet Connect program actually works just fine. I created a VPN connection using it on 10.5 and it all works perfectly. The only problem, as pointed out elsewhere, is that it doesn't remember your password.

I tried setting up a duplicate VPN connection using 10.5's Network Preferences and it experiences the exact same problem you're seeing - everything connects and authenticates, but it passes no traffic. Looks like Apple has a bug here.

If you still have access to Internet Connect, copy it over to your Leopard installation and try that - I bet it'll work just fine!
