Update 1.1.1 and Upper-Case IMAP Mail Passwords

Hello,

After upgrading my iPhone from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1, it appears that 1.1.1 has an issue with properly sending mail passwords for authentication (non-SSL) where the first letter is uppercase. I am connecting via IMAP to the mail server and haven't tested this issue when connecting via POP.

I have changed the password on both of my mail servers (one of which I administer) and on the iPhone, to a lower-case password and it works fine on the iPhone firmware 1.1.1. It also works fine if an upper-case letter is used in the password, just that it not be the first letter in the password.

Can anyone else confirm the same issue? I'm finding 1.1.1 to be full of a lot more bugs that hinder my work than what was in 1.0.2. 😟

After tinkering around, I found out that if your password has an upper-case letter as the first character when using 1.1.1 whether it be a web form or in Mail, you MUST do this to get it to work.

If your password is Apple1984, then on the iPhone with 1.1.1, you have to type...

Shift-->A-->Shift-->pple1984

Previously on 1.0.2, you could type

Shift-->Apple1984

Apparently, the iPhone does not properly recognize to turn off the shift key after pressing the first letter when entering a password in most password fields. The shift key stays lit until you turn it off as if it were a caps lock key. (and no, the caps lock key function is not on).
