Accept / Decline Notifications w/o Sending Reply

I would like to know the answer to this as well. In outlook you have a choice to say accept without sending a response.

This really should be a per-invitation option. It does not always make sense to send accept/reject notifications.

thanks for the link! That REALLY bites!!! Ideally, the email account should be a setting per calendar, so when you add the notification into a specified calendar, then the email account associated with that calendar is used, not your default one!

OR at least give an option NOT to send out emails!

Wanted to bump this discussion up - has anyone found a solution to this? It's a huge nightmare when trying to clean up a calendar and for large group events. I want to be able to delete WITHOUT sending an email!

I wrote the following to try and solve this problem.

iCal Reply Checker - Control of invite replies in iCal.

Cal Reply Checker is an add-in to iCal for Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.5 that gives the user options for how replies to meeting invites are dealt with. It allows the user to not send replies, send replies on a case by case basis or send all replies. It is donationware.

UGLY WORKAROUND:

Temporarily disable your internet access, then accept or decline. iCal will create the reply email, but Mail won't be able to send it. Then go to your Mail Outbox and delete it. Like I said, "Ugly".

After a couple hours on the phone, I have an answer to why this only works for some people.

If the invite is sent to an e-mail address not in your "ME" card (in Address Book), you cannot accept / decline the invite.

Hope this saves other people some time.
