RSS feed issues

I'm trying to set up our courses to use a RSS feed generated by Sakai...

When I enter the public feed into iTunesU for a course, it returns an error "There was a problem updating the group titled Tab 1 in course VME 410 Shelter Medicine - the url http://xxx could not be read"

When I paste the same URL into the subscribe to podcast dialog for iTunes (not iTunesU), the feed works perfectly.

I've also tried pasting the example feed (cut and pasted from http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html#). It returns the same error.

Any suggestions

I'm trying to set up an RSS feed in our iTunes U and I'm getting errors as well. I seem to randomly get two errors: "Nothing responded at URL", or the "There was a problem updating group... URL could not be read" error mentioned above. I tried the suggestion of removing the XML line at the top of the document but that doesn't seem to be working for me.

I've used RSS in another course in the past and had it load successfully, but if I try pointing the new course to the working course's RSS feed, it won't load that one either. Is the RSS feature dead?

I'm trying to use a feed provided by libsyn:

feed://podcastdoctor.libsyn.com/rss

And it is giving me the same errors as mentioned in this thread:

There was a problem updating the group titled TabName in course CourseTitle - the url http://media.libsyn.com/media/podcastdoctor/40Dr._Rudi_Ansbacher_-Menopause.mp3 could not be read

I don't have control over the libsyn feed, and cannot tell if:

1) the redirect on the media file is the cause
2) the xml feed is invalid (libsyn support said it was OK).

The frustrating thing is this feed is used in the Apple Store on the Podcasting side... so I am not sure why it won't also work in iTunesU.

Thanks!

John

I am getting exactly the same "cannot read" error as mentioned by the original poster. Our xml file is being generated by Podcast Maker, and works fine as a subscription podcast in the "regular" side of iTunes. I've tried the suggestions in this thread to no avail. Even had an Apple rep look at it in an iTunes seminar here yesterday, and could not figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. The feed url is as follows:

http://realserver.ait.iastate.edu:8080/ITS/TalkAboutIT/TalkAboutIT.xml

I have successfully added other xml files from off campus. Is it something to do with the :8080 port designation?
