Best Case For iPod Classic?

As you may be aware, there is not a huge assortment of options at this point. However, I am VERY happy with EZSkin. This is a sleek, black silicone cover that fits like a glove. Also, it is attracts less dust than previous rubber covers for iPods. It is a bit pricey though, costing approximately $30. It provides style with real-life protection: shock protection. I have dropped my old iPod a few times on the concrete while rollerblading and am convinced that the rubber case saved its life on many occassions. The screen protector is not a sticker, but rather a hard plastic shield that has been lined with soft fabric to prevent scratches on the screen. They also make a cover that specifically fits the 6G 80 Classic. Highly recommended.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANY RUBBER CASE THAT WASN'T MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 160 CLASSIC. IT WILL NOT WORK. If it says it will fit 80/160 GB Models, do not buy it. Because you will have to return it after you realize it doesn't fit right.

Also, I believe InvisiShield makes a case that will not detract from the iPod's sleek form and presentation. This case is a clear body sticker that prevents the iPod from being scratched. Just don't drop it, or you might be outta luck.

Something to consider when purchasing a protective case: Do I want scratch protection ONLY, or do I want shock protection? You can get both with the EZSkin. It's somewhat hard to find on the internet but well worth it. Highly recommended.

I partially disagree with you.

iPod Video 60/80GB cases fits perfectly in iPod Classic 160GB... The only issue is about the clickwheel... Perhaps it is less sensitive now, and, when covered, transforms the song scrolling into a painful task...

I bought an evo3 for iPod Video 80GB, and I am using it in the Classic 160GB... To avoid the matter of difficult scrolling, I cut the circle part of the case, just leaving the clickwheel without protection...

Why didn't I take the evo4? Well, it's easy to answer... 60% off in evo3 😀

I had an invisibleShield Full Body waiting for my Classic 160 to arrive. I'm extremely happy with it. I've always found the click wheel on other iPods to be a bit too sensitive for my tastes, but the invisibleShield tames it for me. Others may not like that.

Installation was simple, if not exactly easy. Getting it lined up before it started "sticking" wasn't easy, but it only took 3 tries to get it aligned. After letting it sit for 24 hours as recommended, it's really on there. It can be removed without leaving any residue behind, but the 24 hour "cure" time has the edges firmly attached.

I also have a Griffin Elan Leather convertible case that fits like a glove that I'm happy with as well. It has a removable flip cover as well as a removable horizontal/vertical belt clip.

Toss in an EZL (available from invisibleShield), and I've got a near perfect setup.

I have the invisible shield for my 160GB classic. The full body shield has four main pieces and four tiny pieces. It has a small piece that covers the middle button, another piece that covers the click wheel, a third piece that covers the rest of the front of the ipod (from top to bottom, side to side), and the fourth piece covers the entire back of the ipod and wraps around all four sides of the ipod (both sides, the top and bottom). The top has two holes laser cut into it, one for the lock and one for the headphones. The bottom has laser cut hole for the 30-pin connector.

Finally, it comes with four tiny pieces for the corners on the back of the ipod. They are all round and about the size of a pencil eraser. They fill all the empty spaces between the main back side shield once the two sides, top and bottom fold over. Overall, it is a great way to keep the ipod in good shape. It gives the entire ipod a nice shine, although the new classic material is kind of nice without the shield also. The major advantage is the back piece, as it will keep the back mirror material of the ipod brand new. Without any covering/case, the back of the ipod will scratch the first time it touches any countertop. I have an engraved message also and it looks as brand new as it did the day I got it (the first week when the new ipod classics came out).

For less than $30, you can't beat it. Make sure you install it correctly, as the company will only replace it if it defective and not if you put it on wrong...
