30 gb iPod video

My daughter is having problems with storage capacity on her iPod. The capacity slider bar is showing 11 gb of used space under 'OTHER'. Can anyone tell me what that is and how to free up that space for use?

Could be any number of things. Files she put on the hard drive part of the drive, garbage that never cleared out properly, full size versions of photos she added to the iPod (if her model supports photos), etc.
Easiest way to clear it out is to do a restore on the iPod which will format it and then resync everything back to the iPod. Any garbage will be gone now.

Thanx much. Did recover most songs from other areas of the hard drive, but did lose some as well. Those we can download again. And the 'other' space went from 11 gb to 222 mb.
