CHUD install = odd Finder behavior
Hi-
So, this has happened on two clean, ground-up installs. I have a new Dual 2.7 with the infamous beeping power supply. I resorted to the CHUD/Nap mode off solution which work great as far as silencing the machine. However, it seems that once CHUD is installed I get some weird Finder behavior.
The first time I thought it was just a conflict with the Macally mouse driver (if I used the scroll wheel first after booting up the system would freeze), but even without installing the driver CHUD seems to make weird things happen. The most repeatable is that when having Pro Tools do certain things in the background, when it has finished I cannot switch back to it by clicking on one of its windows. I have to either command-Tab to it or click on it in the dock. Not the end of the world, I know, but still disconcerting. Other than that it seems like I run into "Finder not responding" situations where I have to relaunch, or sometimes force restart.
So right now it seems like I can either choose between a beeping G5 or one that is not totally stable. Unfortunately since it is a recording studio environment and the beeping bleeds into my audio chain I've had to opt for the latter.
Has anyone else experienced odd stuff after installing CHUD? Any ideas? Fixes? Any help much appreciated. I'm kind of missing my rock-solid, non-beeping dual 1.8 right now.
Thanks.
