Cover flow art song title match up problem

On my iPhone and on my computer I use cover flow, and have almost all of my album art on my computer. When I use the cover flow on my iPhone almost half of my album art doesn't match up with the song name or artist etc. that is playing.

I have restored, synced it numerous times and created a separate iPhone playlist none of these have worked, any solutions?

Welcome to the forums.

Cover art is a little tricky -- album art from the iTunes store is stored in iTunes and may not transfer properly. If that's the case then try copying and pasting it in manually to each song in the album.

Doing it that way ensures it is stored with the MP3 file, and is often more successful at showing up. Whatever you do, do not rely upon iTunes finding and putting the album art in by itself -- doing it yourself is always the best and most reliable way to go (plus you can usually do better than what iTunes comes up with).

I have the same problem with my iPhone. That is -- the album artwork is correctly matched in iTunes, but very many are incorrectly matched on the iPhone. Had this problem with my Nano before, but it was corrected by a synch. Synch the iPhone does nothing to repair them. Album artwork is a central feature to the newer iPods and the iPhone -- Apple should make sure it works!! Oh, this is not just in the cover flow view, in the standard album artwork view for the iPhone iPod the artwork is also incorrect for many, but not all songs.

Anyone out there find a way to fix this mismatch?

Welcome to the forums.

Have you tried what I suggest? When I uncover an issue with album art, no matter where it is, it is always solved by manually selecting all the songs in the album, making sure the same album name and artist are there, and copying the album art manually into the tag slot.

I would suggest you at least try this on one problem album and see if it fixes it -- if so, you'll know what to do for the rest.

I did read your thread, but didn't try that approach. Since the cover art in iTunes was accurate, it seemed to me the error had to be in how the database in the iPhone connected song to art. Pasting a correct photo back onto itself in iTunes seemed unlikely to help. I'll definitely keep it in mind if it happens again and I can't resolve it another way -- sometimes the thing that doesn't seem like it should matter ends up being the solution, right? Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated.

What I tried next was just restoring the iPhone -- which I hadn't done yet, had only synched it. That seems to have done the trick. I checked about 20 songs that I'd noted as mismatched previously and they were all correct. Haven't checked too many more songs yet, but it looks as though it's repaired.

Restoring is a fairly easy solution, but it does take some time and is annoying if you're planning to head out and expect to use the iPod part of the phone. Hope this mismatch doesn't happen too often!!

Well ran into the same problem all of a sudden add a new album to my collection on the iphone and the album art work does not show up under cover flow and all the songs from the album/artist is showing up under entire other album artwork. I have gone back into itunes and reload the artwork on to each song manually, and re-synced it all and the same problem.

As it was pointed out the songs show up under the correct artist, when you are in list form and when you play a song the correct cover shows up. But cover flow is hosed, for some reason it is groups some songs and artists under the wrong artwork.
