Issues with MySQL

I cannot connect to MySQL 5 through Dreamweaver CS3 after upgrading to Leopard. I get the "MySQL Error#: 2002" error which states "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2). Had no problems at all in Tiger. Does MySQL 5 actually support Leopard?

I had the same problem. I installed MySQL5+server via MacPort.

Mainly because "/opt/local/var/db/mysql5/: No such file or directory", & "Permission denied"

What is the proper Permission setting of this directory?

cd /opt/local ; /opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysqld_safe &

mediters-powerbook-g4-12:local mediter$ touch: /opt/local/var/db/mysql5/mediters-powerbook-g4-12.local.err: Permission denied
